Candle artist "YOAKE no AKARI", who is active in Aomori, started selling botanical candles using mimosa on February 20th.

The candle will be released to coincide with "Mimosa's Day" on March 8. On the day of Mimosa, it is said that it is customary for men in Italy to give mimosa flowers to women in gratitude.

Joakeno Akari is a female artist who lives in Minamitsugaru-gun and has been producing candles since 2014. After working as a company employee in Tokyo and Sendai, he started making candles locally because he loved watching fire from the fireplace since his childhood.

Initially, I was working on gradation candles, but I used to play in the garden my grandmother was making, so I often touched seasonal flowers. , Also started making botanical candles for flowers and plants. “Temperature control differs depending on the plant, and it was a series of trials and errors in order to adjust to a satisfactory balance,” he recalls.

Currently, in addition to a lineup of 6 types such as apples and lavender, seasonal limited products such as mimosa and cherry blossom are also available. Regarding mimosa, "When I first heard about Italian customs, I thought it would be nice, and I immediately took on the challenge. The number of male buyers began to increase from last year, and there are many female customers this year," he said. ..

All mimosas are domestic. It is said that the volume of flowers is larger than that of foreign-produced flowers. "Mimosa is a small plant, and you can use tweezers to make fine adjustments to the tip. The most difficult plant," says Joake Noakari. "If you use it in your daily life, and if you can make the candle light a little easier," he said.

The price is cylinder (height 8.8 x diameter 7.8 cm) = 2,484 yen, cube (15 x 14.5 x 10 cm) = 10,260 yen. Sold at bamboo forest (Daikancho, Hirosaki City), Re-Standard Store (Ekimae-cho) and others. Production ends as soon as Mimosa runs out.
