    On February 19, the Sawada no Candle Festival, a traditional event that lasted for more than 450 years, was held in the Sawada area of Hirosaki City.

    A festival where candles are set up on the shrine of "Sawada Jingu Shrine" in the cave of a rock wall about 10 meters in height and its approach, and wishes for the passing of the test and the abundant harvest (hojo). It is said that the origin of the festival is the memorial service of the spirit of the Heike, which was destroyed in the Battle of Dannoura.

    According to the announcement from the Aomori Local Meteorological Observatory on this day, the highest temperature was 7.6 degrees Celsius, which was around the middle of March, and an unprecedented warmth festival was held. At 17:00, when the candles in the venue and along the approach were lit, a torch line heading for the shrine was held from 18:30, and a mountain climber (Hayashi) played by Tsugaru flute player, Bunta Sato and others were also performed. ..

    Many visitors came from both inside and outside the city, and the candle festival executive committee announced that there were 2500 visitors. A woman in her 50s who said she came from Hirosaki city said, “I live in Hirosaki, but this is the first time I have visited. I was moved by the fantastic atmosphere more than I expected.”

    On February 20, a sacred ritual will be held to divine the abundance of agricultural products such as crops.
