The brewery "Marutake Sake Brewery" (Kuniyoshi, Hirosaki City) in the Hirosaki-Higashimeya area was opened on February 2nd and 3rd.

The sake brewery opens every February and offers tasting of new sake and comparison of Japanese sake drinks. Founded in 1686 as a feudal lord, Matashoya, Mr. Hisaemu Takeuchi serves as a liquor store for 14 generations. “This is the 31st time this year since the beginning of the first year of Heisei. The last holding of the Heisei period,” says Takeuchi.

Initially, it was an event that served sake only to residents in the Higashimeya district where the sake brewery is located, but according to Mr. Takeuchi, ``When the entrance fee was collected, it became an event of'sake lovers' gathering for new sake from outside the prefecture'' "

This year, 200 people visited in two days, and there were participants from outside the prefecture such as Iwate and Yamagata. Compared to drinking sake, there are five types of sake to compare, and the participants who took the challenge seriously challenged themselves for the sake that they would like as a gift. Takeuchi says, "There were only two correct answers for all questions this year."

Naohiro Endo, who is from Yamagata, says, “Every year, I come to Hirosaki to study apple pruning. I look forward to drinking fresh sake every year at the brewery, which has an atmosphere between studies. I want to come again next year".
