On November 22, at Itayanagi Junior High School (Itayanagi-cho, Kitatsugaru-gun, Aomori Prefecture), a composer living in New York, Yoshiyuki Kanazawa, gave a lecture concert.

Mr. Kanazawa, a pianist from Itayanagi. In addition to showing his first performance at his alma mater, he gave a lecture entitled "Living in New York/Living as a Musician" about living in New York. According to Mr. Kanazawa, he visited the school for the first time in 27 years.

Mr. Kanazawa started playing the piano at the age of 4 to 5 and started to become a composer while he was at the school. After graduating from Tokyo University of the Arts, he was active in Tokyo, but decided to go to New York in 2006. “I couldn't speak English, it was a thought,” he recalls.

Mr. Kanazawa is currently working on music composition while opening a music class in New York. In the lecture, he introduced the differences between commercial music and artistic music, as well as cultural differences such as "there is no earpick or omelet rice" in a quiz format, and introduced the differences between Japanese and American schools.

In the latter half of the lecture, I composed music with the students. I listened to each of the two scales I liked from the students of each grade, and played about two minutes of improvised music centered around the six scales to excite the venue.

Lastly, Mr. Kanazawa said, "In the results of the preliminary questionnaire, there were many students who had not decided their future goals or occupations, but with a wide range of antennas, they found something that they could be absorbed in, and always had the feeling that they would positively capture even unwanted results. I want you," and sent an ale.
