The big yellow ginkgo tree "Big Yellow" in Aomori/Fukaura-machi Kita-Kanagasawa area is lit up.

Ginkgo biloba, which was designated as a national natural monument in 2004, is over 1,000 years old. According to a survey by the Ministry of the Environment, the height is about 31 meters, which is equivalent to the 10th floor of the building, and the trunk is about 22 meters thick.

This is the 7th light-up event this year, and will be held from November 7th. The number of lights is increased to 51, and the light from the ground is said to be stronger than usual. In Fukaura Town, in order to make it more appealing as a nationally designated natural monument, it is named “Big Yellow” and is attracting tourists.

Autumn leaves are currently 70% colored. “I want you to enjoy not only the light up, but also the golden carpet you see after it scatters,” said McGraw Suzuki, the person in charge of the town.

A woman in her 50s, who is visiting Aomori for sightseeing from Akita, smiles, "I have never seen such a big tree. I want to visit it again not only at night, but also at daytime."

Lighting time is from 16:30 to 20:30. The light-up will be completed by 28th of this month, depending on the situation of the fallen leaves.
