The Scottish bar "BAR GLEN MORE" (Hirosaki City Station, TEL 0172-26-5338) opened in front of Hirosaki Station on November 5th.

With over 100 types of whiskey, bartenders Shinya Yagihashi and Akio Makie stand at the counter. Glen is often attached to Scotch's brand by the meaning of "valley", and because it also includes the meaning of Scotch whiskey, it is said that the store name was given with the meaning of "more fun with whiskey".

After graduating from high school, Mr. Yagihashi started working at restaurants in the blacksmith town, and had about 15 years of experience in sales at a hotel in Aichi. He returned to Hirosaki in 2013 and worked as a bartender, but he decided to have his own store and called out to bartender Akio Makinae of the same age.

The store area is 20 tsubo. There are 23 seats. The interior of a vacant property that used to be a former clothes store was renovated. Mr. Yagihashi thought about the layout and interior. “I made it a space where gentlemen in bowler hats look good,” says Yagihashi. The chairs are made to be ordered from overseas and the seating area is spacious.

The menu includes highball single malt Scotch whiskey (650 yen and up), Japanese whiskey (650 yen), Irish whiskey (650 yen), beer (650 yen and up), cocktails (650 yen and up). The food menu includes mixed nuts (300 yen), pickles (500 yen), guacamole (650 yen), sesame oil goat chicken (700 yen), and Mentaiko Arigo (800 yen).

Mr. Yagihashi says, "I want to be a bar that can be used in a variety of ways, such as for tourists and people visiting on business trips, and for waiting and drinking alone. If we can increase the number of whiskeys and create a casual store," he said.

Business hours are from 17:00 to 2:00 the next day.
