At the Hirosaki Municipal Museum (Shimohiragincho, Hirosaki, TEL 0172-35-0700), a special exhibition "Children's Museum-Hirosaki I want children to know" is now being held.

It was planned as an opportunity to deepen the understanding of the local learning "Hirosaki Bunkaku" that began at elementary and junior high schools in the city from this year. In addition to the display of Byobu and Neputa paintings held in the museum, there will be a corner where you can experience the weight of the actual Enfield and Matchlock guns.

In the hands-on corner, in addition to guns, you can pick up an imitation sword and wear the same clothes as your armor. There is also an exhibition that walks on the stretched old map of the Edo period, a picture of "Kawawa Miyagawa" which is said to be the first modern department store in Tohoku, and a gold signboard used by the Kikuchi pharmacy (Dote Town) in the Meiji era.

Curator Takahito Munekata says, "The exhibition of school songs at all elementary and junior high schools in the city is one of the highlights. It was a long-time project." There are some school songs that reflect the ideal image of the student, and some include the year of foundation in the lyrics to naturally remember the history of the school. "There are songs that make use of the characteristics of the region, and it is profound when considered," he said.

Mr. Munakata calls out, "I want you to visit because it is organized so that not only children but also adults can enjoy it."

Holding time is from 9:30 to 16:30. Until December 2nd. Closed November 19th.
