Hirosaki's cafe terrace "Ke La La" (Miyuki Town, Hirosaki City, TEL 0172-33-7671) celebrated its 25th anniversary on August 28th.

In addition to offering classic coffee menus such as curry and spaghetti, the cafe also sells miscellaneous goods. Mitsuhiro Saito, the owner of the store, reveals that the store name is from Kerala, India.

Even after graduating from a vocational school, Mr. Saito continued to study at restaurants both inside and outside the prefecture, and in 1993 decided to open it. Mr. Saito is in charge of the kitchen, and his wife Yachiyo is in charge of customer service and miscellaneous goods and accessories sold in the store. Twice a year, we purchase up to Tokyo and purchase pottery made by Spanish and Indian writers.

“We want to make it a community place where people can enter the store casually and mix various things,” Saito said. I recall that when I started putting a piano in the store, live concerts and concerts began to take place, and I also invited lecturers to hold a culture school.

"The menu was aimed at something that would be a unique feature," he said. At the beginning of the opening, new products were sometimes developed once a month. Master gratin was also one of the menus that was initially conceived, and the idea of putting gratin in a pan and putting meringue on top like a lid attracted much attention and became a signboard menu.

According to Yachiyo, the master gratin was suspended during the Great East Japan Earthquake. “I was asked to make bread at a factory in Iwate/Ishinomaki, so I couldn't make it because of the earthquake,” says Yachiyo. A year later, the production of bread was resumed, but the machine had to be shut down again due to a mechanical problem. We gave up on the offer itself, but the requests from repeaters have helped us, and we continue to offer it.

The menu is "cafe terrace set" (1,200 yen) with master gratin and baked cheesecake, "chicken han set" (880 yen) that some repeaters only order this, and "miso potamia pasta" made with miso ( 730 yen) etc. Sweets menus such as chocolate parfait (630 yen), ancient capital parfait with matcha cheesecake (680 yen), and apple ring cake (500 yen) will be offered.

Regarding the 25th anniversary of the opening, Mr. Saito said, "It is only a passing point." Yachiyo smiles, saying, "I've been chased and chased for 25 years in a flash. I've been able to do it with help from others. I'm grateful." "The next goal is the 30th anniversary first."

Business hours are from 10:30 to 19:30. Closed on Thursday and second Wednesday.
