The number of participants of the "Nishimeya Dam Lake Tour" operating in Nishimeya Village, Aomori Prefecture, exceeded 10,000 on May 21.

The tour is an amphibious bus tour of the dam lake "Tsugaru Shirakami Lake" completed in October 2016. It started on April 30 last year, and it took a year and 22 days to reach 10,000 people. Last year, due to lack of rain, the water level of the dam lake fell below the water level required for operation, and more than 40% of it was suspended.

The 10,000th passenger was Fumie Endo, who lives in Aomori City and visited with her family for sightseeing. "I still can't believe what happened (when notified). I'm happy." It is said that Towa, the fifth grader of his grandson, who became the 9999th person, was able to board because it was a holiday for the athletic meet. "I'm disappointed with 10,000 people, but I saw them all and the power of the bus was like a roller coaster," he said with a smile.

On the day of the event, a singer from the Aomori region, who visited Nishimeya Village, made a surprise appearance for rice planting work for a branded rice and shooting a television, and presented Endo and his family with autographs and souvenirs.
