Aomori and Kuroishi, the "tree of concern" on the hill is currently attracting the attention of locals.

"A tree of concern" stands on a hill on the right hand side on the way from Kuroishi city center to Route 102 towards Hakata, Towada. Since there is the shallow Ishikawa river between the national highways and the hill is like a steep cliff, it is necessary to return to the Tohoku Expressway/Kuroishi IC and make a detour to reach the location with trees.

The tree is about 10 meters high and an apple farm spreads around it. The shape looks like an arrow pointing upwards, and some even say that it looks like a "man's mark," "squid," or "oden."

The "tree of concern" is the result of pruning by a nearby apple farmer, Kuniyoshi Taneichi. According to Taneichi, who has run an apple farmer for over 40 years, "I don't know when the tree will be, but it was during the apple typhoon, and I survived the storm."

Mr. Taneichi said it was 10 years ago. "I decided to cut it because the branches of the trees started to block the sunlight and to get in the way of coming and going on the farm road. I felt sorry for the trees when I cut off all the branches, and did not prun only the head part." Speak to. "I was thinking of pruning later," he said.

Mr. Taneichi recalls that he used pruning shears to cut the apples. "Because it is one cedar on the hill, it has a good environment for growing in sunny conditions. It may be because it was carefully cut with apple pruning scissors, but the branches regenerate quickly and pluck the head part. "Ogatte" ("growth" with Tsugaru dialect) has made it difficult to pinch," he says with a smile.

Someone who saw the picture of the tree speculated that "it's a new species" and "the technique of grafting may be amazing", but Taneichi reveals "just one cedar". "I'm glad to be noticed. Let's hang a rope and put it in a coin box for now," he laughs.

According to Kunio Sato, a nearby Kuroishi Sightseeing Apple Garden (Kuroishi City Asase Shiryunoguchi, TEL 0172-52-8898), some of the tourists who noticed that they were “worried” in the past. He said that he was no longer interested in the cedar tree.

Mr. Sato smiles, "It's not unusual for us apple farmers to see it all the time, but it may be interesting for strangers to see."
