    On January 27, a special pre-screening of the Japanese-French collaborative film "Swimming Overnight" was held at the Michinoku Hall in the 50th anniversary hall of Hirosaki University (Hirosaki Bunkyo-cho).

    Set in the Tsugaru region, the film is a collaboration between Japanese movie director Kohei Igarashi and French movie director Damien Manivel. This is the first screening for the general public, and Kogara Takara, a second-year elementary school student living in Aomori and Hirakawa who starred with Igarashi, took the stage.

    The film was officially screened at the "Orizonti Division" at the Venice International Film Festival last year to showcase new trends in film, and was also selected as a "Student Jury Award/Flimarks Award" at the International Film Festival "Tokyo Filmex". It was

    The story depicts a boy played by Mr. Furukawa heading off the road to the fish market while attending school in order to deliver a picture of a fish drawn to his father who works at the fish market. Director Igarashi says, “I made a movie by thinking about how Houra-kun feels. I made the movie the time felt by the child.”

    Mr. Igarashi who mentioned "weather" as having a hard time shooting. "I've been waiting a long time," he said. Furukawa said, "I enjoyed shooting, but there were some scary staff," and invited the audience to laugh.

    About 270 people gathered from both inside and outside the prefecture. Mr. Igarashi said, "I want you to see the rich charm of Tsugaru that we found," and Mr. Furukawa smiled, "I want many people to see it."

    It will be screened at Aeon Cinema Hirosaki (Takasaki) from February 24 ahead of the rest of the country.
