Hirosaki's "Crafts & Japanese Cafe Takumikan" (Kamihiragincho, Hirosaki City, TEL 0172-36-6505) started selling a new menu "Apple shaved ice" on November 17.

Opened in July this year, the shop has a cafe space and a gallery displaying craft products. Homemade syrup "Apple shaved ice" using about 1 apple "Hirosaki Fuji" from Aomori prefecture is sold for 800 yen. Mr. Sugawara said, “Because Aomori, which has the highest production volume of apples in Japan, we absolutely must do shaved ice for apples, which is rare nationwide. We had a hard time adjusting texture and water content during development. Preventing discoloration of apples I also devised it."

"Winter ice cream is a luxury to eat in a warm room. You want to eat shaved ice in the same way," he said.
