An event named after "Home Movie Day (HMD)" will be held on November 23 at "Menbo Takeya" (Hirosaki City Minoru-cho), a soba shop in Hirosaki.

HMD is an event in which films that are buried in homes and regions are brought to the theater and screened. Since 2003, it has been held in more than 100 cities in 17 countries around the world. It will be held in Hirosaki from 2006, and will be sponsored by the citizen group "HMD Hirosaki".

"The highlight of this year is the video of the "Chrysanthemum and Autumn Leaves Festival" of 1969 (Showa 44)," says Asahi Takemori of the same organization. "There is also a video that was held in the 1970s, and there is also a doll of Yoshiaki Yabuki, a craftsman in Tokyo who made a chrysanthemum doll at the festival for 46 years and decided to retire this year."

As a new initiative that started this year, VHS will also be projected. Takemori said, “Magnetic tapes such as video tapes and films will deteriorate without proper management. Even images left at home may be valuable as historical materials. I slept in the closet. If you have a film that seems to be left as it is, please bring it with you."

On the same day, you can also bring in film or VHS. A self-produced election documentary, the Ainai line in Akita Prefecture, which was abolished in 1984, and the autumn leaves and hoarfrost from the Hakkoda Ropeway filmed in 1974 are also shown.

Holding time is from 16:00. free entrance.
