A pipe organ concert will be held on October 14th at the chapel of Tooku Gijuku High School (Ishikawa, Hirosaki, TEL 0172-92-4111).

This is the 9th concert this year. On the day of the event, Junko Mizuki, an organist who belongs to the school, will perform for about an hour. Mr. Mizuki is enthusiastic, saying, "This time we will focus on selecting songs for the organ and aim to return to the starting point."

Mizuki was born in Hirosaki. For eight years, he was exposed to historical instruments in various parts of Europe and trained under a musician. In 2007, he became an organist at the school. The once-a-year concert is also a showcase for the general public.

The school's pipe organ was installed in 1990. It boasts the largest size in the prefecture and one of the largest in high schools across Japan. Among the 1632 pipes, there is a pipe with a maximum length of about 5.7 meters. It was manufactured by Karl Schükke in Germany, which is the largest pipe organ in Japan at NHK Hall (Shibuya-ku, Tokyo).

Organ builder Ichiro Mochizuki, who is in charge of tuning and adjusting about 100 pipe organs nationwide, said, "There is no one pipe organ. Makes a sound."

Mr. Mizuki calls, "If you can enjoy the tone of the pipe organ with the ease that you can drop in on the sidewalk for a walk."

The start time is from 14:00. Doors open at 13:30. free entrance.
