NHK's travel program "Small Journey" "Happy from Miyama-Nishimeyamura, Aomori Prefecture-" will be broadcast on July 16.

The program focuses on the familiar climate and people's lives. In the past, the prefecture has taken up Kazamaura Village, Lake Towada, and Tsugaru Railway.

Nishimeya Village introduced this time is the smallest village in the prefecture with a population of less than 1,400. Located in the southwestern part of Aomori Prefecture, it is located at the gateway to the Shirakami Mountains, a natural heritage that has the world's most precious beech forest.

“I wanted to introduce Aomori other than winter,” says Masato Yabe, who is from Saitama and is in charge of production at NHK Aomori Broadcasting Station. It was said that the shooting started from mid June for about 10 days. "In Aomori, not only is it a harsh winter, but there are other aspects such as enjoying spring and enjoying a short summer."

Performers include Atsuko Yamada, the announcer, Sayako Yonezawa, who collects edible wild plants in the village, and Sadako Maeyama, who makes the "Moya doll", a craft that is sold as a souvenir.

Mr. Yabe says, "I was able to introduce the charm of the village through the life of a couple living in a village called Nishimeya and the life of breaking firewood from early summer in preparation for winter."

    Broadcast from 8:00 to 8:25.
