Oki Maruyama's ghost painting open to the public in Hirosaki
On June 12th, at Kudo-ji Temple in Hirosaki (Sakamoto, Hirosaki City), a ghost painting written by Ou Maruyama was released for an hour only.
Okyo Maruyama is a painter from the middle and late Edo period who was active in Kyoto. Mitsuaki Sudo, a priest of the temple said, "According to a box containing a ghost painting, the ghost painting has three axes, and this painting was first drawn by Okyo Maruyama. "
``There is a theory that the ghost who became a model was the appearance of his wife who had lost his life before Okyo who could not draw a ghost image because he had never seen a ghost, I go on the day my wife died."
On this day, about 10 people visited before the opening at 12:00. Not only Western candles but also Japanese candles were used for the first time this year. “The flickering of the flames of Japanese candles is a reproduction of what it was then,” says Sudo.
"Every year, it is said that it will rain on the public day. It was clear from morning this year, so I thought it wouldn't rain, but it rained within an hour when I made it public. "
A woman in her 40s who came to see a ghost painting from Tokyo said, "When I saw it in the light of a Japanese candle, the facial expression of the drawn woman looked even softer and my skin looked whiter."
