On May 28, in Hirosaki and Oguriyama, a general merchandise store "sudatsu" (Oguriyama, Hirosaki City, TEL 0172-78-1207) that handles miscellaneous goods and stationery opened.

Using the old folk house, this store has over 500 items of old furniture, LED Edison light bulbs, tin toys and other miscellaneous goods. The owner, Satoru Ishikawa, is from Aomori City. After working in apparel, he lived in Hirosaki City, Akita Prefecture, and Fukushima Prefecture, where his wife, Takako's parents' home is located. After the Great East Japan Earthquake, he moved to Hirosaki City, where he has many friends.

“I loved used clothes and Scandinavian miscellaneous goods, I also liked DIY and making things. I wanted a “working atelier, a place where I could do what I want”,” Ishikawa said. In the winter of 2015 when I was looking for a property, I met an unoccupied house with an introduction of an acquaintance and decided to buy it. The old folk house, which was about 80 years old, was aging, so we renovated it with our family from August 2016, and completed it in about half a year.

Mr. Ishikawa said, “Peeling off the damaged tatami mat, dismantling the scaffolding of the shed on the premises and procuring timber. The floor of the room displaying the products was re-covered by one person. Shows a smile, saying "The place of the best commitment."

Products are procured at flea markets held in Tokyo. Pencil cases and hair elastics made by Takako are also lined up. Mr. Takako created the Tsugaru kogin sashimi noren at the entrance. "The treasure of the shop that stabbed me hard," says Ishikawa proudly.

The total area of the old folk house is about 43.8 tsubo, and some 10 tsubo is used for the store. As a rental space, we will rent two 8 tatami Japanese-style rooms for 1,080 yen per hour. “The name of the store has the meaning of “a place where things and information are nesting.” I'm happy if you can use the rental space to create lots of things and information,” says Ishikawa.

Business hours are from 10:00 to 15:00 (Saturday, Sunday and public holidays until 17:00). Closed on Wednesdays.
