Hirosaki's fu-cake specialty shop "Matsuo" (Hirosaki City Tohoku, TEL 0172-27-4218) started selling the new product "Umefuwafuwa" on April 16.

The same product that chopped grilled dough of Aomori Prefecture's "Bungo Ume" pickled in red perilla and mixed with molasses. Established in 1882 (Meiji 15), the same store specializing in rice cakes in the prefecture co-developed with the long-established Umeboshi store "Kaneshime Iita" (Takaya Hirosaki, TEL 0172-82-3410), which was founded in the middle of the Meiji period.

“Matsuo” fourth generation president Yuetsu Matsuo recalls, “The reason for the collaboration was from the proposal of Nobuko Ishida of “Kaneshimeitaita”. “I had the confidence to be able to make plums because I had the experience of developing fruit-based sweets two years ago in collaboration with the fruit store “Orchard in the Forest” (Tomozawa).”

The release was on the day of the event "Ishita no Ume Matsuri" hosted by "Kaneshime Ista". “I had a good reputation and asked for immediate production increase,” says Ishida. Matsuo says, "Sweet sweets are sweets. I had never made sweets for plum perilla, and I had a feeling that they had different tastes, but when I heard the request for increased production, I felt a sense of satisfaction."

Mr. Matsuo hopes, "In the future, we will increase the number of stores that can handle this product collaborated with two long-established stores in Hirosaki using plums from Aomori Prefecture, and become a new Aomori souvenir."

The price is 360 yen. They are sold at "Matsuo," "Kaneshimeita," and roadside stations.
