The lavender on Kita Odori, which passes through Hirosaki city, is in full bloom. Lavender is planted in the approximately 3km section from the signal under the Hirosaki bypass viaduct on National Route 7 to the Machinaka Information Center. 22,000 lavenders dye the street vividly.

Lavender, which colors the median strip of the road, has been planted since 1995, and this year is the 19th year. Saplings are planted regularly from late November to early December, and lavender, which has survived the harsh winter, reaches its first best season from late June to early July.

The lavender, which makes the driver's eyes and passersby's eyes easy, will also bloom in late October. The city carries out cutting work twice a year, and some of the cut lavender is distributed free of charge to the Road Maintenance Division of the city. Every year in early July, more than 200 citizens line up for lavender, but this year the pruning will be delayed and the distribution will be postponed.
