Hirosaki Gakuin University (Minori-cho, Hirosaki City, TEL 0172-34-5211) will open the public to cultural assets such as nationally designated important cultural assets from April 29 to May 2.

This event was planned for the Hirosaki Sakura Festival. The Hirosaki Gakuin Foreign Missionary Museum at the same university, as well as stained glass and pipe organs made more than 100 years ago will be open to the public.

This is the first time that it is open to the public during Golden Week. The parking lot on the university premises will be opened free of charge, with the aim of reducing traffic congestion around Hirosaki Park, the venue for the Sakura Festival, and increasing the number of Owani Line users.

The missionary hall, which has the characteristics of a Western-style building from the Meiji era, was completed in 1906. It was registered as a nationally designated important cultural property in 1978 as one of the excellent buildings in the Tohoku region. During the period, a commentary panel will be set up and college students will take a guided tour. Waffles, coffee and other light meals will be sold on 29th and 30th together with the social welfare facilities in the city.

“More than 50 students have raised their hands as staff members,” said Miwa Ikushima, an associate professor at the university. “We would like to see many local students actively participate and contribute to the local contribution that our school can make.”

Akio Nara, a fourth-year student who serves as a guide, said, “I thought that it would be a good experience. I raised my hand. Even though there is a valuable building such as a foreign missionary house, it is still poorly recognized, so if you can send it even a little I will show my motivation.

The parking lot will be open for free from April 29th and 30th, from May 3rd to 7th from 8:30 to 21:00.
