On the 3rd of March, in Hirosaki's workspace SHIFT (Momoishi-cho, Hirosaki City), a roundtable discussion was held to discuss issues and countermeasures for introducing telework.

Telework is a general term for work styles that allow people to work from home using a computer or the Internet without commuting to work, or to remotely entrust work in the Tokyo area to rural areas. Toshio Morimoto of former Microsoft was invited as a telework adviser dispatched by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications to the round-table discussion hosted by the NPO "Aomori IT Utilization Support Center".

About 20 people, including government officials, university officials, and private businesses living in Hirosaki, who are considering introducing telework, participated. Mr. Morimoto says that there is a momentum as a national policy such as July 24 being set as "Telework Day" towards 2020, and when the transportation system is confused due to disaster etc. I introduced that there are merits in.

Participants had questions and opinions about the introduction of telework, and Ms. Morimoto answered by presenting the cases and experiences of the Saga Prefectural Government, which had been enrolled as Chief Information Officer until March 2016.

Mr. Masakatsu Oura, Chairman of the Board, said, "Telework, which enables people to live in rural areas and work in the Tokyo metropolitan area, is the key to regional revitalization. I will be connected." "I would like to establish a teleworking base in Aomori City, which is convenient for the Shinkansen, in order to aim for the inflow of human resources from the Tokyo metropolitan area," he said.
