"Inamiya Confectionery Store" (Tomida, Hirosaki, TEL 0172-32-0667), which has a history of over 100 years, was renewed in May.

The store was founded in 1906. It is said to have been developed in 1913 (Taisho 5) by the second owner, Kojiro Inami, after a painstaking study at a store that originated from the famous confection "Banana Saichu" in Tsugaru and the northern Akita region.

According to Shigeo Inami, who is currently the 4th generation owner, Mr. Kojiro, who was traveling by train from Hirosaki to Osaka at the time, got a banana from a gentleman in the car. Mr. Kojiro was impressed by the sweetness of the bananas he had eaten for the first time and wanted to make them into sweets. At that time, bananas were a valuable item that was not accessible to the common people, but he hoped that he would feel free to eat them.

"I don't actually use bananas during bananas. I mix spices with bean paste to reproduce the flavor and sweetness of bananas," says Shigeo. The method of making the fragrance is said to be a secret.

Shigeo trained at a Japanese confectionery store in Tokyo for 18 years until last year, and returned to Hirosaki at the same time as this store renewal. I succeeded the 4th generation. "I'm not used to living in Hirosaki for the first time in a long time. To protect the taste of bananas that have been loved by citizens for many years, I want to be able to blend in with Hirosaki's climate throughout the year," he said. Currently, I am working hard every morning with my third father, Takaka.

At the same store, you can buy sweets such as banana chuchu (125 yen), chestnut manju (110 yen), and chocolate manju (115 yen).

Business hours are from 8:30 to 19:00.
