On March 5th, the Bon Odori event "Motto! Donmai" will be held at Hiroro Square on the 3rd floor of Hirosaki's commercial complex "Hiroro" (Ekimaemachi, Hirosaki City).

"Donmai" designed by students at Hirosaki University is a dance consisting of choreography and lyrics that encourage people with the concept of "a space where everyone can be positive."

This is the second event this year, planned by a student of the university using the community-based crowdfunding site “FAAVO”. The first event, which was held for the first time at Horai Square Park (Hirosaki-shi Dote-cho) in November 2015, had about 300 participants in two hours.

The event's representative, Yuma Tomakomai, a 4th-year student at Hirosaki University, recalls his feelings at the time of recruitment of support money, saying "I was worried whether I could get empathy", but the target amount of 300,000 yen was achieved in 20 days. There were also investors from inside and outside the prefecture.

On the day of the event, in addition to dancing the "Donmai" Bon Odori, the "Donmai Presidential Election", which shows stories of mistakes and mistakes as "Donmai episodes", and "Donmai Essay" on the theme of the complex will be exhibited.

Akio Narita, the secretary general of the Tsuru Tamasukai, who is active in Tsuruta-cho, dresses up as an "encouraging god" at the "Shrine-Eru" booth, in which Ginger Ale behaves as a participant.

“It will be an event that will be supported by more people than I think,” says Tomamechi. “I would like to work hard to prepare for the day while listening to the thoughts of various people.”
