On February 9th, "Winter rice field art 2017" started at the second rice field art venue in Inakadate village (Inakadate village, Minamitsugaru-gun) in Aomori/Inakadate village.

The main tourist content of the village is "rice field art," where pictures and letters are drawn using 12 types of rice in 7 colors. Although the rice field was not used due to snow during the winter, in consideration of a new use, last year we started "Snow Art," which depicts the snowfield with people's feet.

Continuing from last year, I am in charge of Simon Beck, an English snow artist. The "Shin Godzilla" rice field art was drawn last year at the venue, which is about 140 meters long and 70 meters wide (about 1.5 times the size of a soccer field). Simon is currently wearing snow shoes and is drawing a geometric pattern on the snowfield, with completion scheduled for the morning of the 10th.

According to a person familiar with the matter, last year spent half a day just surveying, but this year it was rarely done. "I think I still have the feeling of last year," he said. Mr. Simon, who entered the venue at 9 o'clock on the same day, drew a figure only by visual inspection with almost no break. "I have chocolate chips, cola, and bananas in my bag. I eat them while making snow art, put them on the snow, and use them as a marker to make them."

Holding time is from 10:00 to 17:00. Light up is from 10th and lighting time is from 17:00 to 21:00. Admission is 300 yen for adults (junior high school students and above), 100 yen for children (elementary school students), and free for elementary school students and younger. Until the 12th of this month.
