A "flying magic craft exhibition" is currently being held at the "Yu-asobe-" folk craft store in Hirosaki (Shimizu-mori, Hirosaki City).

The same exhibition is held by inviting a select shop "Samsara" (Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture) that sells works by domestic and foreign craft artists. This is the first time for Hirosaki to be held. Approximately 250 items including one-of-a-kind craft works, original clothing, small items and accessories such as bags and stoles, hand-woven kilim (rugs) and rugs of plant dyeing will be exhibited.

Mr. Jun Watanabe of Samsara says that he has begun to collect works made by craftsmen in Japan and abroad 20 years ago. “I like things that can be used for a long time,” says Watanabe. Among the exhibits is a 100-year-old kilim, who is said to have sat a Tibetan monk.

He has been interacting with the owner of the "Yu" store, Manabu Umeda, for nearly 10 years, and said that "Umeda has been working at a clothing store in Hachinohe since he was working." “There are lots of interesting people all over Japan. I was able to interact with Hirosaki regardless of generation, and I was able to find interesting crafts. I do not think this is for this year, so I want to come again next year. ".

Mr. Watanabe said, “I can't understand the feeling of stepping on a kilim without actually feeling it with my feet. I can't tell the charm of the work by changing the light intensity or seeing it nearby. I can't convey the charm of the work directly. I want you to do it."

Business hours are from 10:00 to 18:00. Until November 24th.
