On October 16th, the hill running competition "Maehira Attack" was held at the Owani Onsen Ski Resort International Area in Aomori/Owani.

This is the second tournament this year. "This event aims to make effective use of ski areas that are not used except during the ski season. If it leads to the revitalization of Owani town, even a little," said Koji Takahashi, the executive committee of the event.

The course is about 540 meters from the middle of the ski shrine to the summit of Maehira, the height difference is about 170 meters, and the maximum inclination is 34 degrees. Mr. Takahashi said, "30 degrees may be a surprisingly comfortable number, but it is quite an angle as the participants say that the slope has become like a wall."

On the day, 55 people participated and all completed. Mr. Takashi Kudo, who participated from Hirakawa City, said, "I expected it to be tough, but it was tougher than I expected." Hideto Shibuya, who won the kids category, laughs, saying, "It's so painful that I don't want to run anymore."

Mr. Takahashi shows his willingness to hold every autumn. "If you change the course and mileage and expand the scale," he said.
