"Hirosaki x France" Week is currently being held in Hirosaki City to get people to know about French culture.

This year's third project was triggered by "Cercle Francophone," a French off-group activity that was started by Hirosaki University staff in charge of French education. Students of the community-oriented project-type course "Connecting the region and the world" will cooperate.

During the period, 22 stores from around Hirosaki participated to provide limited menus and time-limited discount services associated with France, as well as at the Horai Plaza side Galleria on the 1st floor of Nakasan Hirosaki store (Dote-machi). Under the theme of "Hirosaki-related French exhibition", a photo exhibition will be held in which France and Japan have exchanged each other through a briefing session by students who visited France in October last year and "Marking apples".

On September 24th, "French weather-Marché 2016" will be held at Hourai Square (Dote-cho), and a reading session will be held to compare Tsugaru dialect and French, a French pop jazz music concert, and French confectionery will be compared. Hold workshops such as making cards. Holding time is from 10:00 to 16:00.

On the same day 26th, from 18:00, a talk session will be held at Dote Town Community Park (Dote Town) to learn about the relationship between Hirosaki and France through apples. Inviting Mr. Pascal Garb, the CEO of the orchard "Lucknexy Fruit Garden" and Vice Chairman of the International Garden Tourism Association from France. Yoshihiro Sato of the Satobukuro store (Hama no Machi Higashi), who has been interacting with Mr. Garb for many years and continues to send pictured apples to the French president every year, will also be present.

Ms. Makiko Kumano, the head of the project, said, "The apple with pictures has been in France since the dynasty, and it has a history of drawing portraits and marks of the king's coat of arms. Today, Japanese painting technology is appreciated, and Cider is a force in Hirosaki. There are many common points between France and Hirosaki, but there are many things that I do not notice. If it becomes a chance to know more through the event," he said.
