"Iwaki Summer Festival" will be held on July 29th and 30th at Kata Dori in Hirosaki and Iwaki districts.

This year's resident-participation festival celebrates its 33rd year. With Kada Street as a parade section, local junior high school students will operate brass bands and Neputa, and at the Iwaki Cultural Center "Asoberu" (Kada), local high school students will perform cheerleading and stage dance events.

This year, the samba team "Samba Nova" that has been active in the Asakusa Carnival for the first time in 3 years will be called from Tokyo. Six foreign and Japanese dancers will perform samba dance on the day of the parade and stage.

“I haven't had a samba carnival this year,” said Rikihide Kudo of the Iwaki Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and I finally met my expectations. This year, the Rio Olympics in Brazil will be held one week after the festival. If you look at Brazil's authentically prepared samba and feel the atmosphere of Rio even before the Olympics," he said.
