Tsugaru dam construction office (Nishimeya, Nakatsugaru-gun, TEL 0172-85-3005) announced on April 18 that the water level of the Tsugaru dam reached the maximum water level during the flood.

The Tsugaru Dam, which is under construction 60 meters downstream of the Meya Dam, has contributed to mitigating flood damage along the Iwaki River and supplying irrigation water for over 50 years.

We completed the laying of concrete in August 2014, and are currently conducting a “test flooding” to actually accumulate water in the dam lake and check the safety around the foundation ground and the reservoir.

According to the office, it was at 15:00 on the same day that it reached the highest water level of 216.3 meters during the flood. It has a total water storage capacity of about 140 million cubic meters and is said to be the fifth largest dam in the Tohoku region. In the future, we plan to maintain the maximum water level during floods for 24 hours, discharge the gate at 15:00 on April 19, and gradually lower the water storage level in Lake Tsugaru Shirakami.

A person in charge of the office said, "Etsuryu", where water flows from the opening at the top of the dam, can only be seen once every 100 years. Currently, the dam's observatory and dam lake view You can see it from the park."
