Beauty created by nature! Hotokegaura, the northernmost unexplored area of Honshu
Hotokegaura, located in the southern part of Sai Village on the Shimokita Peninsula, is an area where strangely shaped cliffs and huge rocks extend for about 2 km, and is a scenic spot that has been selected as one of Japan's 100 unexplored areas.
The eruptive products of the eruption of a submarine volcano that occurred more than 15 million years ago were scraped by wind and rain and waves for many years, and became the strange shaped rock of today. It is a sculpture created by nature. On sunny days, the contrast between the blue sea and the white-green rock formations is beautiful, and on a foggy day there is a different beauty.
At Hotokegaura, we recommend sightseeing on a sightseeing boat with a panoramic view.
