Hirosaki Chamber of Commerce and Industry Youth Division will hold "New Winter Sports SONDO" on February 25th and 26th. We are currently looking for participants.

"Sondo" is a water gun survival game that uses a snowy field as a field and uses water-based ink. The field is set to 10 meters wide and 36 meters long, and the team that drops the opponent's Daruma wins in a team system of 5 people. The name is taken from the initials of "Shootsnow Operation New Daruma Otoshi" and means "messy" in Tsugaru dialect.

Susumu Kasai, a member of the youth division of the Hirosaki Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said, ``In the past, children used to play snowball fights in the winter, but now many children play video games, which is unfortunate, even though it's an era. It all started with the idea of suggesting a way to play in the snow that fits the era.”

It is said that the rules and game contents are being made through repeated trials. Mr. Kasai says, "I tried many times to decide on the density of the ink." In the field, a wall of stacked apple crates will be installed and covered with snow. It is said that the height should be such that children have an advantage. Four referees will be assigned, and if the papers pasted on their chests and backs are colored, they will basically be sent off.

In addition to preparing plastic umbrellas and ink-filled water balloons to enhance strategy, it is said that if the winner is not decided, the size of the ink sticking will be decided.

Competitors will be given free rentals of "SONDO suits", goggles, helmets, gloves, etc. Mr. Kasai says, "The 'SONDO Suit' is a commercially available protective suit that is sprayed with a water-repellent spray. Anti-fouling spray is also available, so you can enjoy the game without getting it dirty."

Participation conditions are 1 group of 5 people, participation is free. Utilize Hirosaki City's subsidy "citizen participation type town development 1% system". The venue is Apple Park in Hirosaki City (Shimizu Tomita Terasawa, Hirosaki City), and is divided into a "Junior Section" for junior high school students and younger and a "Family Section" for adults. Applications are accepted via Google Forms and fax.

Mr. Kasai said, "It's a game that can only be played on snow. I think it's fun to watch the game, so in the future I hope we can spread it as tourism content."

The event is held from 9:30 to 15:00. Free admission.
