The Yayoi painting installed at the torii gate of "Kura Okami Shrine" (Tsuruta Town Mountain Road) in Tsuruta, Aomori is currently a photo spot.

Yayoi-ga is grain art that uses seeds and grains of rice to pray for a bountiful harvest. In Tsuruta, two associations, the Yamamichi Town Association and the Motomachi Yayoi Association, are currently producing Yayoi paintings. It is dedicated to Hachimangu Shrine.

In addition to the 1.9-meter-long and 3.2-meter-wide Yayoi paintings at the Sando Town Association, elementary school students who belong to the children's association also make Yayoi paintings. Every year, the theme is Uto and characters, and the children make them.

This year's rabbit character was drawn by five children and then glued together. Masato Ichinohe, the chairman of Yamamichicho, said, "I used to draw Yayoi paintings for my elementary school graduation work, but it stopped when it was integrated. I wanted to leave it as a tradition as a town association, so I started more than 20 years ago. I started dedicating Yayoi paintings that were drawn by children alone."

The Yayoi painting was attached to the torii gate of the shrine on December 30. Currently, local residents who learned about it from social media and word of mouth are coming to shoot Yayoi paintings. Mr. Ichinohe said with a smile, "I'm happy to have the opportunity to show it to many people."

It will be installed at Yami Okami Shrine until around January 29 in time for the Lunar New Year, and after that it will be on display at Roadside Station Tsuruta Tsuru no Sato Arja (Sakai Satomi) and Tsuruta Community Plaza inside Mutsu Tsuruta Station. .
