Hirosaki's cafe "Blue Eight" (Dotemachi, Hirosaki City, TEL 0172-35-9666 ) is currently looking for a new owner.

This shop is popular for its parfait and lunch menu. It is known to many Hirosaki citizens as a place of memories of their school days. At the end of last year, a handwritten sign saying, "I'll give you Blue Eight," was put up inside the store, and a new owner was recruited.

Takami Tsunoda, the owner of the store, said, "My husband and I have been running the store for over 30 years. There was a time when we decided to 'let's do this until we die,' but when we cleared the snow at the end of last year, we lost our attachment to continuing the store. I started thinking about moving to Izu, where my wife is from, and I went there in December to look for a new house."

Mr. Tsunoda, who was born in Owani, had experiences such as opening a store in Roppongi, Tokyo in his twenties. In 1980, he made a U-turn and opened a coffee shop "My Room" in front of Hirosaki Station, but the landlord was forced to move out, so he became the owner of "Blue Eight" from 1986 (Showa 62). . "Blue Eight was originally a store that was open, and was introduced to us by the landlord. The store's name, Eight, was because it was jointly run by eight people, but I don't know much more than that," says Mr. Tsunoda.

The store area is 25 tsubo, and the number of seats is 36. It is said that all items other than personal belongings in the store will be left and it will be used as a living room. "In addition to the chairs, tables and tableware, you can also use the refrigerator and dishwasher. I would like you to negotiate the rent and fees through the real estate agent," Tsunoda said.

"I don't want to leave the name of the store. If someone wants to open a new store, I want it to be that person's store. It is possible to preview the store, and if you want me to tell you about the menu of Blue Eight. I can teach you,” said Mr. Tsunoda.

One of the reasons for this is that the number of customers has decreased due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection. Tsunoda is currently 75 years old and will turn 76 in March. Mr. Tsunoda said, "Both my husband and I are over 70 years old, and if we want to quit, we feel that now is the time. It's a restaurant that doesn't have regular holidays, so you can rest when you feel like it. I want to," he said with a smile.

Current business hours are from 11:30 to 17:00.
