A train concept room in Hirosaki, with straps and seats that let you experience the ride
On December 11th, the simple lodging facility "GOOD OLD HOTEL" (Okeyacho, Hirosaki City) began offering "Konan Railway Concept Rooms," rooms themed around train carriages.
The facility is a renovated apartment building in the downtown area, and operates as a "snack bar district where you can stay overnight." Its unique features include rooms from former snack bars such as "Ai-nin" and "Garnet" that have been turned into guest rooms, and their signs serving as room signs. The concept room was created by renovating one of the 11 rooms, and installing straps and seats from the 6000 series train owned by Konan Railway (Hirakawa City, Aomori Prefecture) inside the room.
According to the general incorporated association "Clan PEONY Tsugaru," which planned the project, only 20 of the 6000 series cars were manufactured, and Tokyu Corporation (now Tokyu Corporation) operated them until 1989, when they transferred eight cars to the Konan Railway. They ran on the Konan Railway Owani Line as regular trains until 2006, and continued to run on special routes thereafter, but ceased operation in 2014.
The "Konan Railway Concept Room" was created under the supervision of the Konan Railway and is made up of items stored in a warehouse. The room sign reads "Tetsuko." Inside the room, there are luggage racks, ticket issuing machines, Konan Railway manuals, company motto, timetables, brake valves, indicator lights, etc.
Keitaro Igarashi of Konan Railway, who was in charge of supervising the room, said, "All of the equipment on display inside the room was actually used. This passenger room will appeal to railway fans, and we hope that they will get the feeling they are actually riding a train."
The accommodation fee is 20,000 yen per person per night. The accommodation is limited to two people. Bookings will be accepted from December 17th.
