The "Enjoy Christmas with Apples Experience Event" was held on December 7th at the Wine Club (Shinmachi, Aomori City).

This event was held for the first time by the Aomori Prefecture Apple Policy Council. The aim is to promote the relationship between apples and Christmas, similar to the relationship between pumpkins and Halloween. 60 people from inside and outside the prefecture were recruited to participate. Initially, 50 people were expected to participate, but due to the large number of applicants, the limit was increased by 10.

The venue featured a photo booth and Christmas tree dotted with 300 kilograms of apples, as well as an apple pyramid made up of 70 different apple varieties. A Christmas lunch course using apples from Aomori Prefecture was served. Drinks included cider and apple juice.

Attractions included a comparison of five varieties and an "apple tasting contest," as well as the announcement of a best dressed award for all participants, who were required to wear something red.

At the end of the event, there was an attraction called the "Apple Light Up Ceremony," where the nectar-filled apple variety "Koutoku" was lit up like a lamp. In the darkened venue, the apples all started to glow at once, and people gasped in admiration. One of the participants, producer Souma Sumika, who provided the "Koutoku" apples, said, "Apple nectar has the characteristic of glowing when light is shone on it. Seeing the venue from the stage was overwhelming."

The association's secretary-general, Takazawa Itaru, said, "2025 marks the 150th anniversary of the introduction of Western apples to Aomori. At that time, missionaries would distribute apples to their students and followers at Christmas. We hope that apples will gradually become an established part of Christmas."
