"10-minute captivating poster" in Hirosaki, Aomori, featuring 100 varieties of apples
On July 24th, a "10-minute captivating poster" featuring 100 different apple varieties was set up in the lobby of Hirosaki City Tourist Center (Shimoshirogane-cho, Hirosaki City).
The poster features 100 different apples lined up on one side. It was created by the Aomori Prefecture Apple Measures Council (Yasukata 2, Aomori City, TEL 017-723-1386 ) as part of the Aomori Apple Art Project. Momoko Satomura, the project manager, said, "The idea came from a discussion about how people get bored while riding in an elevator because they have nothing to do."
The apples featured in the poster are mainly selected from those available in the market. The poster features the ochre-colored "Gold Farm" in the upper left and the dark red "Akihagare" in the lower right, arranged in a way that creates a gradation. According to Satomura, there are said to be 15,000 varieties of apples in the world, 2,000 varieties in Japan, and 50 to 60 varieties of apples shipped to the market.
The association posted a prototype poster on social media on June 10th, and received positive comments such as "I want one" and "I can't get off the elevator," which encouraged them to go ahead with the official production. The posters will be installed at Hirosaki City Tourist Center, as well as the "Apple House" in Hirosaki Apple Park (Shimizu Tomitaderasawa, Hirosaki City), Aomori Airport (Otani Otari, Aomori City), and Aomori Prefectural Tourist and Products Center ASPAM (Yasukata). The poster data can be downloaded from the association's website.
Satomura said, "The poster allows people to visually enjoy the variety of apples. There are not many elevators in Aomori, so I would like to put these up in elevators outside the prefecture as well."
