The experiential digital attraction facility "Space Zoo UNIVER ZOO" pre-opened on June 1st in Yuguchi Ichinohosokawa, Hirosaki City.

This facility allows visitors to experience six types of digital attractions. It was opened in April last year as a permanent exhibition facility for the digital attractions held at the Hirosaki City Tourist Center (Shimoshirogane-cho) multipurpose hall. The facility is about 180m2 in size.

The owner, Kaoru Kasai, is a digital creator living in Hirosaki who has produced large snow sculpture projection mapping and flower art projection mapping for the "Hirosaki Castle Snow Lantern Festival" and "Hirosaki Castle Chrysanthemum and Autumn Leaves Festival." In October last year, he was awarded the Hirosaki City Cultural Promotion Merit Award.

According to Kasai, about 3,000 people visited last year's exhibition, and some people said they wanted to experience it again. "There was a lot of interest in a permanent exhibition, but we had trouble finding a location, so we ended up opening in the former hospital site," he said.

Among the six types of digital attractions, there will be a corner where animals that you have colored in will be scanned and projected on the spot, an attraction featuring an alien that mimics the movements of people standing in front of it, and an attraction where "Jupiter jellyfish" react to lines drawn with a felt-tip pen. "Some kids spent three hours playing there," says Kasai with a smile.

Currently in the pre-opening period, they will use rooms that have not yet been used and add new digital attractions, with the grand opening planned for this fall or later. Kasai says, "I hope people will come and enjoy this digital space that both adults and children can enjoy."

Business hours are 10:00-19:00, Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays = 10:00-18:00. Admission fee is 1,000 yen for adults, 800 yen for junior and senior high school students, 600 yen for elementary school students and younger, free for children under 3 years old. Closed on Tuesdays.
