Reading of Dazai's works in Aomori: "Masako Nakamura Talks About Dazai" - Feeling the milestone of the 115th anniversary of his birth
"Nakamura Masako Talks Dazai," a reading of the works of author Dazai Osamu, will be held on June 19th at the music restaurant "Scherzo 2" (Yanagawa 1, Aomori City, TEL 017-752-0349 ).
The organizer is Masako Nakamura, a freelance announcer from Aomori. She has been holding readings of the same title in Tokyo since 2021 to coincide with Dazai's birthday and the day his body was discovered, the "Okinawa Cherry Blossom Memorial Day." Nakamura said, "This year marks the 115th anniversary of Dazai's birth, and 15 years since I started reading Dazai's literature. I wanted to hold it in my hometown of Aomori."
On the day, "June 19th," "Memories," and "Run, Meros" will be read aloud. The lineup is designed to be enjoyed by a wide range of generations, and the characters' lines will be interwoven with Tsugaru dialect. Pianist Izumi Soma will also be present to read the original songs accompanied by piano accompaniment.
Nakamura says, "Even the Dazai literature that you read in your textbooks will gain new charm and awareness through reading aloud. Listening to it together with music will have a deep impact on your heart." In preparation for the day, he plans to visit Kodomari, Nakadomari Town, which appears in the novel "Tsugaru." "Kodomari is the setting for my favorite scene in which Dazai reunites with Take Koshino, who was his babysitter. I want to improve my image and go into the performance with enthusiasm."
Nakamura hopes to continue reciting Dazai's literature as his life's work. "Dazai's writings contain many expressions that make you chuckle, and I think he was a cheerful person who loved to entertain people. I want to vividly express the charm of Dazai's personality and his works using the warm Tsugaru dialect," he says.
The event will be held from 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm. Admission is 2,000 yen (including a cake set). The capacity is 70 people. Applications can be made by phone to "Scherzo 2" and "Miyabi no Kai" (TEL 090-1606-9822 ).
